Readable

Readable is an application that helps you read more of the web. Readable transforms text on any website using fonts, colors, and layouts of your choosing.

By presenting content in a format that you’re comfortable with, Readable makes the reading experience much more enjoyable — and faster too. Readable is the most customizable solution for manipulating content (on the web) and making it readable. It’s also very simple to use and completely free.

After a few seconds the web page will be simplified and you will achieve easy to read content panel. To exit the panel just click anywhere outside the content area. If the add-on can not achieve a desired success you can manually select the text and then click the statusbar icon or toolbar icon to get the simplified version of the selected text. You can also add a Toolbar button to the navigation toolbox. Ported to Firefox from Gabriel Coarna’s Readable bookmarklet.

    Thank you!

    Fantastic add-on!
I like the extra styling options, plus it goes great with Theme Font Size Changer.
    :)

The Add-Ons Readibilty, Readable und Firefox Reader are very similar. You should take them all together, so the user had the chance to use it the way he wants (Lightbox or no and so on…).

Name the new Reader “Ultimate Reader” and insert some of the features I send you some weeks ago. Thank you ;-) !

Excellent app, just one drawback. It does not seem to format code/pseudo-code on website properly, it misses all the new line characters and thus the code appears in one long line. Can that be fixed ?

It really facilitates reading with eliminating all this annoying and some times confusing content in various websites. Thanks!

I have a suggestion for improvement.

The articles on christianpost.com (including print formatted articles) do not render for me with Readable in Firefox 3.6. It seems to have no effect at all. It would seem they have a developed a method to prevent reformatting and add-stripping.

If you have a chance could you please have a look and see if there is a way to fix this site and maybe allow users to ‘tune’ Readable. Thanks.

I guess the ideal thing for me would be a selection mechanism for Readable so that I can tell Readable that on a given web site the text content of objects of selected classes is the desired text to display. (e.g. something like the Nuke Anything Enhanced extension’s “Remove everything else” menu option or the Aardvark extension’s “i” command to select an object to keep)

    Thanks for sharing your efforts

    Much appreciated! :-)

When readable is on and the source page is darkened, flash animations are still very bright. Can you darken them as well? Thanks.

    Hi,
I’m trying to install version 0.5 on FF 3.6.22 in French, and am reproducibly getting this failure report:
Firefox n’a pas pu installer le fichier situé à

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/179035/addon-179035-latest.xpi?src=dp-btn-primary

raison : Hachage invalide sur le fichier (corruption possible du téléchargement)
    -261

In a nutshell: Firefox could not install add-on because the hashcode on the file is deemed invalid. Any way to correct this?
I could succesfully upgrade to 0.5 under FF 6.0.2 on a different machine, also in French.

    CChris
