Readability .8 – often excludes parts of an article – also links’ text disappears…

I find “Readability” very very useful!

    1. Is there an option to toggle images in the view?

    2. In “Newspaper” style, is there a future way to change the font? Or change the font for any style for that matter?

    Hi,
You have a nice extension but unfortunately it is not working fine in a Portuguese Firefox with Office Black theme.
The settings texts when you right-click the icon are write … and white text over white box results in a missing text.
And more, I only get an action after changing an option in settings. It’s not working if I only click in the status-bar icon or if I use crtl-alt-r …
I hope I was not the only one with this situation …

  4. Baris Derin says:

    Hi thenonhacker,
There is no option to toggle images currently. Custom fonts and styles are in the roadmap and will be available in future versions of the add-on.

  5. Baris Derin says:

    Hello Amauri,

Just checked Office theme and the problem is related to Office theme not Readability. Please send a bug report to the developer of the Office Theme you use.

Also add-on status-bar and keyboard short-cut should work. Maybe another add-on is conflicting or your Firefox is problematic. BTW, have you tried the Readability toolbar?

  6. Epiktetos says:

In the readability bookmarklet you have the option of turning hyperlinks into footnotes. This makes for a much more bookish (in a good way) reading experience. I’d love it if this great extension could incorporate that feature, or even just have the option of making hyperlinks simply underlined and black.

The bright blue just throws the feng-shui, you know?

  7. Ujjwol says:

Is there any way to change font I mean always it shows serif fonts, could I use san-serif (different than the default) font ?

  8. andrey says:

    >Hi cchris,
    >Readability mode contains a Reload Original
    >Page button to return to original web page.
    >Can I ask why you need this extra functionality?

I agree with cchris, because button located too far away from button, and when I Readability was unable to parse page you need to move the cursor to another corner of the screen, and it is very annoying sometimes… (=

  9. Baris Derin says:

    Hi andrey,

I will look what can I do in future. But till then you can use CTRL+R keyboard combination to refresh the page quickly without using Reload button.

  10. Coldwind2010 says:

I would be nice if I could custom the background color and font style.

Just opened up firefox and this page popped up. After scouring the page I realised it was talking about Readability, but it should really say so in the title. :)

(That the first thing on the page seems to be a message about Firefox updating is doubly confusing.)

  12. sco says:

AWESOME! thank you sooo much! u just made readability so much better.

  13. Ali Mousavi says:

It’s great add-on. But it can get better if it supports changing styles, or changing font.

  14. My FOGO says:

It would be great is Readability work like iRead extension in Chrome.

When return to original page don’t have to reload the whole page.

One of the most useful add-ons for Firefox. Keep up the good work!

  16. I have both Readability and Firefox Reader installed. My only comment so far is that I can’t seem to get the same font and font size in Firefox Reader as I have set up for Readability. I use a serif font in Readability, but in a size and leading that apparently is not available in Firefox Reader. So right now the Firefox Reader rendering just doesn’t look right to me. The type is a little bit too small, and the leading is significantly too big.

Thank you very much. Let me know if I need to provide additional information.

I like the fact that I can now read my tabs because of this. Thank you so much for creating it.

  18. John Schommer says:

Everything is great but I can’t get the email function to work. I am running Vista. Two weeks ago when I first installed readability it functioned then after a few times using it, it quit. All I get is a large blank box in the article when I click the email envelope icon. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times…help?

  19. Readability does not work as expected on chip.de, e.g. http://www.chip.de/artikel/Firefox-Tuning-Turbo-fuer-den-Browser_32025627.html. Firstly, it does not find the main article, alsway showing the user comments only, secondly it does not detect that it is a multi-page article.

  20. Thanks for this great add-on. So simple and effective. I would love to see an option when you print a blog post to print the comments as well. Thanks again.
